Millions of years have passed since the Energy which moves our planes, trains and automobiles was laid down. For centuries this resource remained lost, untapped, or flare off.

The real tragedy of supposed intelligence and knowledge is that our institutions, schools and companies often snuff out that spark. JP’s 2nd Rule for Life is:

Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping

Rule 4: Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today

In the Bellagio Poker Room I was swiftly emptied of my $100.

If you have been in a poker game for a while, and you still don’t know who the patsy is, you’re the patsy.

This resulted in seeking consolidation in the all you can eat Chinese buffet. Our waiter was Declan who was full of vigour despite the late hour returned with several rounds of G+T’s.

I asked him if he enjoyed working the night shift and without skipping a beat… ‘Yes absolutely!’. We continued chatting and he said the management gave him freedom to express himself.

We got to talking about Sidehustles and I asked what he was up to nights and weekends. He explained that he was carrying bags across town at the Four Seasons.

‘It’s a awful grind The Boss is always watching for a mistake- won’t let me sneeze without writing me a ticket. ‘

This is a lesson that all future managers should heed.
